ARTIST STATEMENT
A night class in metalsmithing as a creative outlet from my day job ignited a passion that has led to a dedicated path as a jewelry designer and fabricator. My designs play with the duality of strength and fragility, often combining delicate stones with sterling silver, and I manipulate the metal to bring to life the visions I have in my imagination and dreams.
Inspired by the natural world as a child growing up in the mountains, and as an adult by the cities I've been able to explore, I'm drawn to the beauty of semi-precious stones and the clean, bold lines of architectural structures. The bends of an ancient oak tree, an archway in a New Orleans cemetery, and the juxtaposition of colors in the ever changing sky all influence the designs.
Each piece is made in my Bywater studio, and can be seen at select art markets and galleries in New Orleans.
