Cheri` Ben-Iesau was born in Los Angeles in 1961. She grew up along the California coast and has enjoyed the life of a nomad since joining the Coast Guard in 1986.

Most of the current body of work, “CONTEMPLATION”, comes on the heels of a season of epic upheaval for the artist. Change, challenge and deep contemplation flavored the work. The observer is invited to finish the pieces: to view the works through the filter of personal experience in order to make the story in the painting their own.

Ms. Ben-Iesau works primarily in acrylics and permanent marker on either art board or canvass.  Each piece of art combines painting with frame to make a one of a kind creation.  Many of the materials used in the frame are recycled and specific to the piece framed.

None of the artwork is reproduced, ever. No giclées, no reprints, no limited editions.

The artist has no formal schooling in art. Past work includes a 2008 series depicting the many moods of women, many early pen and inks and several murals. Features about her art have appeared in print in Louisiana Homes & Gardens, Professional Mariner and the Times Picayune.
