New Orleans artist Amy Archinal has been exhibiting her vibrant and colorful paintings throughout the South since 1982.  She holds an MFA from the University of New Orleans, LA, a BA from University of Richmond, VA, and has been a resident at the Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, NY.
 
Archinal often embraces playful compositions juxtaposing her subtropical hometown’s abundant vegetation with her familiar studio’s common objects. At other times, she studies the pure relationship of colors in more abstract works that the artist, also a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, (www.neworleansyogatherapy.com)
 views as internal landscapes. These works, the “Trance Dance” series, invite the viewer to enter a meditative state.
 
Her paintings are included in the collections of the Federal Reserve Bank, the National Institutes of Health, Health South, Media General, Lykes Brothers Shipping, the EC May Corporation, and many other corporate and private collectors. She received an early boost when her paintings were featured in the ground-breaking film sex lies and videotape.
