I grew up enjoying watching my father work at his
jeweler's bench as a hobby, and developed a strong love and appreciation
for handcrafted art. When my sister, Kiki Huston inherited his tools and began "smithing" I
was inspired and encouraged to give it a try. Having experimented with
many different mediums over the years, I felt almost instantly at home
with silver.
I find inspiration in everything from textiles, papers, and of course
nature. There's almost nothing more beautiful to me than a simple,
smooth beach stone or river rock.
Most of my pieces have a simple, clean, organic feel. My work isn't
sparkly or "flawless". I'm partial to silver with a satin finish that has
the feel of the artist's hand, and believe that most pieces get better
with the patina of time and wear.
